TOYOTA Motor Philippines (TMP) reported record sales of 10,123 units in July, up 65 percent from a year ago and coming after a 9,000-unit sales performance just last May.
This is the first time any local car manufacturer has surpassed sales of 10,000 vehicles in a month, TMP said.
The car maker said the record performance in July reflected continuous high demand for all its models led by the Vios and Innova models. TMP said it sold 2,480 Vios units and 1, 614 Innova units last month, recording their highest sales since these two locally manufactured vehicles were first introduced in the Philippine market.
TMP said its July performance was further strengthened by other top-selling Toyota models such as the mini hatchback Wigo, with 935 units sold, the utility van Hiace with 1,280 units sold, and the SUV Fortuner with 1,350 units sold.
For the first seven months of the year, TMP’s sales reached 58,635 units or 43 percent higher than that of the same period last year.
“We at Toyota Motor Philippines would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to our customers for making Toyota as their preferred choice of vehicle. We are pleased by the continuous support and belief they have shown leading to this sales milestone. Ultimately, this would not be possible without them,” TMP president Michinobu Sugata said in a statement.
“Achieving more than 10,000 units in a single month is indeed a leap forward coming from a 9,000 unit sales level last May. We see this feat as another motivation to our team to constantly find ways in serving our customers and partners even better,” Sugata added.
