Toyota makes presence felt at the 6th Philippine International Motor Show


toyota20160927Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMPC) showcased its leading and cutting-edge product during 6th Philippine International Motorshow (PIMS) held at the World Trade Center, Pasay City on September 14-18.

TMPC’s impressive line-up showcased during the 6th PIMS truly fit the car show’s theme which was “Steer the Future.”

TMPC joined the event organized by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) with a 360-square meter booth featuring the “New and Engenius” Vios, the new and improved 86, the all-new hybrid Prius and the exciting, all-new IMV line-up featuring the Hilux, Fortuner and proudly locally-manufactured Innova. Aside from these models, the Toyota booth also showcased its “waku-doki” Vios Cup One Make Race vehicle and its daringly designed sports car concept, the “FT-1.”

The Toyota booth was every bit experiential showing the brand’s various faces. The first corner was devoted to the Hybrid hub wherein the all-new Prius made its national debut showcasing that Toyota continues to be at the forefront in this specific technology. The second zone, on the other hand, showcased Toyota’s newly launched models, the IMV line-up including the proudly Filipino-made Vios. The No. 1 automotive brand in the country also displayed its “waku-doki” side with a motor sports and TRD area plus a space for parts and accessories for every car guy’s needs.

In this 6th instalment, customers will be able to experience the different faces of Toyota in the spirit of ever-better cars. Inspired by ‘waku-doki,’ or heart-racing fun, our visitors will get a sense of what our brand is all about. Moreover, aside from the fun element, our boothaims to mirror Toyota’s brand promise of quality, durable and reliable vehicles.”

Engine-ius Vios
Toyota brings “engine-ius” improvements to the best-selling sub-compact sedan in the Philippines! First introduced in the Philippines in 2003, the Vios has been the top contender in its category [sub-compact sedan] ever since. Best known for its affordability, reliability, and fuel efficiency, the Toyota Vios has definitely made a name for itself amongst Filipinos.

In the spirit of “ever better cars,” Toyota has upgraded the Vios with a more fuel efficient NR series Engine equipped with Dual VVT-i and CVT (AT variants). This improvement in the model gives it better mileage with the help of the Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent engine that aims to achieve fuel economy, high engine output and decreased fuel emissions similar to other Toyota vehicles (such as the Altis, Camry and Rav4). Furthermore, with the addition of the Continuous Variable Transmission (A/T variants), the new Vios now has a 7-speed-like sequential shift mode compared to the 4-speed gearbox of the previous mode making it the best version to date.

New 86
Since it was first introduced in the Philippines in 2012, the Toyota 86 has been the image of “waku-doki” in the country. While the compact rear-wheel-drive sports car is powered by a 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated, flat-four boxer-engine – this 2016, the new 86 has further improved its overall exterior.

The new 86 now has a lower bumper profile creating a sportier stance. Aside from this, the areas around the front and rear tires have been given a more agile appearance, improving the overall look of a sports car.

All-New Prius
First introduced in 1997, the Prius has long been a representation of Toyota’s commitment to the environment bringing sustainable, innovative and exciting mobility solutions to the consumer.

The all-new Prius is set to power the future with its new striking design, proving itself to be a hybrid drive that consumers will love with innovations that make a difference and efficiency that remains unrivalled. This newest generation is built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). The philosophy of TNGA is the brand’s concept of building ever better cars.

All-New IMV Series (Hilux, Fortuner and Innova)
First introduced in the Philippines in 2005, the International Innovative Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) series is the globally renowned platform for Toyota’s best-selling vehicles in key segments of the automotive industry. With the full model change of the all-new Hilux mid-last year followed by the all-new Fortuner last January, the whole series was completed last February with the launch of the all-new Innova, marking a new era in innovation!

True to their names, each vehicle in the IMV series is armed with various features that cater to the different needs of customers – the Hilux (‘High-Luxury’) for rugged environments, the Fortuner (‘Fortunate’) for urban and outdoor terrains, and the Innova (‘Innovative’) for more than just everyday city driving. With each unit setting itself apart from the other, the IMV’s integrated design language translates to overall utility with the same reliability that Toyota is well-known for.

Vios Cup OMR model
The Vios OMR (one-make race) is a 1.5 G MT variant with several TRD modifications on the intake, exhaust, suspension and race standard safety equipment inside. This will only be available for sale to those who will participate in the Vios Cup and not an additional variant to its current line-up.

The Vios Cup is a grassroots racing competition spearheaded by TMPC. Catered to car enthusiasts of any age (15 yrs old and up), the Vios Cup has been designed for non-professionals making it a platform for first-time racers. This race is bound to showcase the ‘waku-doki’ (heart racing fun) and the Quality, Durability and Reliability delivered by the Toyota Vios.

Concept Car – Toyota FT-1
The FT-1 aims to show what can be achieved when the focus is creating a sports car design that will truly excite. The exterior design, with a powerful racecar look emphasizing the beauty of curvilinear form, is aimed to turn heads. The front features a boldly shaped fender and a sharpness suggesting powerful performance. In this car, Toyota aims to produce cars that connect more deeply with customers, generating a more satisfying ownership experience that complements the brand’s legendary reputation for quality, dependability and reliability.
