TOYOTA Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) said sales in June jumped 17 percent year-on-year to 9,923 units, bringing its first-half sales to 57,717 units, up 19 percent from the same period last year.
It said sales of its passenger car (PC) and commercial vehicle (CV) segments reached 23, 804 and 33,913 units, respectively.
Leading both the PC and CV segments in Toyota’s line-up are the Vios and the Fortuner. Toyota said its subcompact Vios remained its strongest brand in terms of sales since the start of the year.
On a year-to-date basis, 14,878 units of the Vios have been sold while deliveries of the popular Fortuner CV reached 8,744 units.
“Our first semester performance proved to be encouraging as Toyota’s sales continue to increase, with the second quarter growing by 7 percent versus Quarter 1 of 2015 due to the high demand of new vehicles over the summer season,” TMP president Michinobu Sugata said in a statement.
“As we enter the second half of the year, our priority as a brand is to remain steadfast to our customers’ needs such as providing the best deals we can offer, making it easier for Filipinos to own a Toyota,” he said.
“An example of this is that we have extended Toyota’s Mid-Year Madness promo until July 31, giving more opportunity for customers to drive home a brand-new Toyota with its exciting deals and easy-to-own payment options,” he added.
The Toyota official emphasized that despite the rapid growth in sales, Toyota puts equal focus on customer service.
“We are grateful that our sales continue to grow due to the high demand in the market. Just last April, we breached the one million sales mark, a first in the automotive industry.”
Sugata said that with 46 dealerships nationwide to cater to the growing market, the public can expect more to open within the year.
“This expansion will allow more accessibility and convenience, providing customers with the renowned quality products and services Toyota can offer,” he said.
