HELD alongside the launch of the new Toyota Corolla Altis were festivities marking Toyota Motor Phils.’ (TMP) milestones in 2013, especially that of selling the most number of vehicles in a year since the company started its operations in 1988.
“Now at almost two decades, you may think ‘What else can Toyota do?’ Believe me when I say that there is more to come,” TMP President Michinobu Sugata said.
TMP in 2013 clinched the local auto industry’s Triple Crown—leading in overall sales and those of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles—for 12 consecutive years, having sold 75,587 vehicles. The result exceeded the company’s target of 75,000 units.
Last year TMP sold 49,740 light commercial vehicles and 25,847 passenger cars.
“We grabbed a 42-percent market share, fortifying our leadership in the automotive industry,” Sugata said, adding that TMP remains steadfast “in delivering uncontested customer service” as well.
“A testament to this commitment is that we ranked highest in customer satisfaction with our dealer service in the Philippines, according to the JD Power Asia Pacific Customer Service Index last year,” said the TMP chief, whose tenure in the country was recently extended.
To date, Sugata said TMP has 42 dealer outlets nationwide (including Lexus Manila), with each sharing the “same commitment in giving the best customer service there is in the country.”
“Now that TMP is turning 26 this year, I assure you that our drive in constantly providing the best products and services to the Filipino will remain. This has always been the key to our continued success in the automotive industry,” Sugata said.
