TOYOTA Motor Phils. (TMP) announced it has attained a new record with 75,587 vehicles sold in 2013, its highest annual result since the company started in 1988. TMP said that it sold 25,847 passenger cars last year while its commercial vehicle tally reached 49,740 units.
TMP credited the new Toyota Vios for its performance as the model capped off 2013 with a December result of 6, 976 units sold. The Vios—the Philippines’ best-selling vehicle—in December chalked up its fourth consecutive month of record-breaking sales with 2,345 deliveries. Year-to-date, TMP said Vios sales ended with a 24-percent growth versus 2012 with sales of 20,493 units.
TMP said that its second best-selling vehicle, the Innova, registered its highest sales result for 2013 with 1,466 units moved in December, and ended the year with annual sales of 14,376 units—an 8-percent rise compared to its performance in 2012.
“TMP continues to move forward as exemplified by our sales milestones,” said TMP President Michinobu Sugata. “I am pleased to report that we finished the year 16 percent over the year 2012, likewise surpassing our forecast of 75,000 units sold. This new sales milestone wouldn’t have been possible if not for the trust and loyalty our customers have towards our brand. These achievements are our main drivers to consistently find ways to serve our customers better with excellent products and services.”
With the strong performance, TMP said it is poised to achieve its 12th consecutive Triple Crown, or being the top seller in the country’s passenger car and commercial vehicle segments, as well as leading in overall sales.
