A traffic enforcer was shot dead Wednesday by an irate security guard whose motorcycle was about to be confiscated during street clearing operations in Quezon City.
The victim, Enrique Fresnido, was a member of the Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety (QC-DPOS).
Fresnido and other traffic personnel were clearing West Ave. when the former tried to confiscate a motorcycle owned by Alex Batacan, a security guard of Banco de Oro (BDO).
Batacan confronted Fresnido, and the two argued until the former shot the latter in the head. Fresnido was brought to the Quezon City General Hospital (QCGH) but he died during surgery.
The Highway Patrol Group (HPG), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority personnel and local traffic officials were assigned to clear designated Mabuhay lanes of obstructions and illegally parked vehicles to ease traffic flow during the holding of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit next week.
