BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya: The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has expressed alarm over the illegal cutting of trees for a government housing project for the indigents in Aurora province. The housing project is an undertaking of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for indigent people in the town of Dingalan town, Aurora province. In an interview over Radyo TV Baler, Community Environment Resources officer (Cenro) Manuel Sebial said it is very alarming that the required volume of more than 60,000-board feet may result in the denudation of the rich forest areas in Dingalan town. Sebial said he has urged the DSWD to cooperate and help monitor sources of lumber as well as help assist suppliers go through the legal processes in the cutting of tress for the said housing project. “I am not against the housing project of the government for the indigents but we need to protect our environment just the same and must go through legal processes in cutting tress,” Sebial said.
