A tree-planting activity along the STAR Tollway in Batangas was one of the highlights of the 117th anniversary celebration of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) last June 20.

The good weather on a Saturday morning made it a fun day for DPWH employees to plant over 240 mahogany seedlings from Lipa City to Batangas City together with volunteers from concerned local government units and the Star Tollway Corp. (STC).

STC operates the 42-kilometer STAR Tollway from Sto. Tomas to Batangas City where additional two lanes on the Lipa City-Batangas City stretch opened to traffic in December last year while the new Lipa-Sto. Toribio Exit opened last month. Among others, these new improvements have significantly contributed to safer, faster and more comfortable travel on the STAR Tollway.
