‘TreeVolution’ gets a Guinness

The “TreeVolution: Greening MindaNOW,” a multi-sectoral environment preservation initiative, bagged the Guinness World Record for having the most number of trees planted simultaneously in multiple venues in Mindanao.

Helping in the success of the green initiative was Teleperformance, a provider of outsourced customer experience management services. Through the Citizen of the Planet, the environmental corporate social responsibility arm of the company, its volunteer employees from Davao were deployed in Barangay Marilog, Davao City, one of the locations of the TreeVolution.

The tree-planting campaign achieved the new world record for the planting of 2,294,629 trees across Mindanao covering a total land area of over 7,800 hectares in 29 different locations. The initiative was carried out by 122,168 volunteers. The number of trees planted during the TreeVolution has surpassed the previous record of India by 300,000 trees.

Teleperformance acknowledges the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) and its partner agencies, including the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and various members of the private sector and socio-civic organizations for the successful implementation of the activity.

This participation in the TreeVolution is part of the company’s environmental rehabilitation and protection program across the Philippines, which also includes the cleaning and greening of the Marikina River and the La Mesa Ecopark in Quezon City.
