Government troops killed late Friday two armed men said to be behind the harassment of a militia detachment in Davao del Sur early this week.
Reports reaching Camp Aguinaldo, the military general headquarters in Manila, on Saturday identified the men as “Anting Peayay” and one alias “Victor”.
They were killed by troops from Task Force Kitaco that was pursuing a group that fired at a militia detachment in Sitio Aliong, Barangay Kimlawis, Kiblawan.
The group killed militiaman Romeo Marila and wounded two others.
The group fired at the detachment that is under the jurisdiction of the Army’s 1002nd Infantry Brigade.
The brigade commander, Col. Marcos Norman Flores, said snipers had been firing at the detachment since last January.
