AFTER the All-Star break, exciting action resumes as San Mig Coffee battles Air 21 Express while Talk ‘N Text stakes its unbeaten slate as it faces Rain or Shine Wednesday in the 39th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup elimination round at the Araneta Coliseum.

Solo leader Talk ‘N Text is carrying a clean 7-0 card when it meets Rain or Shine at 8 pm following the 5:45 p.m. encounter between Air 21 and San Mig Coffee.

Coach Norman Black’s Tropang Texters are expected to go full throttle despite already being assured of a twice-to-beat advantage, which he said is a big advantage in the quarterfinal round where the no. 1 seed faces no. 8 qualifier and no. 2 seed meets no. 7 team.

With still at least two games left in the elimination, the Tropang Texters may still end up in a triple tie for the top spot but can still claim the twice-to-beat edge because of the winner-over-the other rule.

They defeated second front running San Miguel Beer (5-2) via a 107-99 win on March 14 and went on to beat San Mig Coffee (3-2) by six points, 81-75, on March 31.

Rain or Shine, which is bearing a 3-3 card, still needs to win two of its remaining three elimination round assignments to finish in the middle of the standing and avoid a twice-to-beat disadvantage.

Coach Yeng Guiao expressed satisfaction with new 6’9 import Wayne Chism, who debuted with 17 points, 16 rebounds, five assists and two blocks in their 99-75 win over Globalport last March 31.
