AFTER a back-to-back win, Talk ‘N Text aims to end the best-of-five semifinal series as it faces defending champion Purefoods Star Hotshots today in Game 4 of the 40th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
The game is set at 5 p.m.
The Tropang Texters grabbed a 2-1 lead following a 111-107 victory in Game 3 on Thursday, which was fitting follow-up of their 93-77 conquest in Game 2 on Monday. They lost the opening game 94-100 on April 1.
A win by the Tropang Texters would pit them against Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the best-of-seven Finals. The Elasto Painters earlier swept Meralco Bolts, 3-0, to claim the first Finals slot.
“It was a tough win. Both teams want win, trying to play with their very best. We are just fortunate to come out as winners. We still need another win. And I know Purefoods is capabale to make adjustments. All our games against Purefoods were tough games,” said Talk ‘N Text coach Jong Uichico.
Jayson Castro, one of the 15 added to the 40 Greatest Players in the league, led Talk ‘N Text charges, hitting eight triples on top of his 27 points to move just a win away from the Finals. He was 8-of-9 in the three-point zone, including seven straight, the last in the final 1:15 that stretched their lead to eight points, 111-103.
