Tropical storm ‘Emong’
intensifies — Pagasa

The weather bureau said on Sunday that tropical storm “Emong” has gained strength as it rapidly moved towards the direction of Ryukyu Islands, Japan.

The estimated rainfall amount will be moderate to occasionally heavy within the 450-kilometer radius of the tropical storm, said the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Emong was last seen at 430 kilometers east-northeast of Basco, Batanes at 2:00 p.m Saturday, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph), and was forecast to move northwest at 30 kph.

A thunderstorm is likely to develop over Metro Manila within 12 hours and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms, Pagasa said.
