NEW YORK CITY: Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump laid out an aggressive economic vision on Thursday (Friday in Manila), setting an ambitious goal of four percent growth and knocking rival Hillary Clinton for offering Americans nothing but a “welfare check.”

Trump shifted between an aspirational tone -- he said his plan will lead to the creation of 25 million new jobs over 10 years -- and cynicism about the current state of US economic policy as he addressed the Economic Club of New York.
