A short film centering on the life and struggles of a Filipino jeepney driver won the IndieFest Film Award held in California last February 17, numerous international short film entries.

The short film, shot by Ernest John Talusan, bested entries from all over the world including film makers from Argentina, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Spain, UK and the USA.

The Filipino film was given adulation for its truthful presentation of the tale of a lowly jeepney driver as he raises his daughter, despite the odds. The film shows how the driver survives the daily role of being a father, as well as the stresses of driving in Philippine roads. The short film show the sacrifices a jeepney driver endures just to give a better future for his daughter.

Talusan is a fresh graduate of the International Academy for Film and Television (IAFT) in Cebu City. Aside from winning in the IndieFest Film Award, his short film was officially selected to be shown in The Tottering Biped Film festival in Canada, the Los Angeles Film Festival and Noida Film Festival in India.

Prior to it competing in the international film arena, ‘Tsuper Hero’ had already won the “Technical Xxcellence Award” and “Best Thesis” at the IAFT.
