THE Travel Tour Expo (TTE) 2015 unveiled unprecedented deals and treats during its official launch in Makati City on Tuesday. Considered a major event in the Philippine tourism industry, TTE’s 22nd year will be held at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City from February 13 to 15.
“This year’s Travel Tour Expo will be the biggest and grandest event [in TTE’s history]because it will occupy all the exhibition halls at SMX, from the ground to second floor. What is more exciting is that TTE 2015 will offer up to 90 percent discounts on airfare, accommodation and other travel services,” announced project chairman Mariano “Nit” Ragaza.
Organized by the Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA), TTE 2015 is expected to have 288 exhibitors spread across 16, 230 square meters exhibition floor space, and 844 exhibition booths.
One of the most awaited annual events in the tourism industry, especially with more Filipinos traveling today, the expo gathers airlines, hotels, resorts, national tourism organizations, domestic tour operators, travel agencies and other related stakeholders to showcase their destinations, products and other services at discounted rates.
Moreover, according to Michelle Victoria, PTAA president, the growing medical tourism sector will be joining this year’s expo and will offer packages that combine destinations and medical procedures.
TTE was conceptualized by the PTAA in 1994 to unite the travel industry and give Filipinos the opportunity to explore the islands and the world conveniently and affordably with everything they need under one roof. In February 2014, more than 70,000 visitors came to take advantage of the travel and leisure deals on offer.
Meanwhile, Ramon “Chicoy” Enerio 3rd, DOT Tourism Promotions Board chief operating officer, reiterated the remarkable contribution of PTAA in promoting Philippine tourism through TTE, especially with 2015 declared by the agency as “Visit the Philippines Year” (VPY).
“Travel Tour Expo 2015 will surely help in promoting the Visit the Philippines Year campaign that aims to invite all to experience the promise of ‘It’s more fun in the Philippines’,” he said.
The COO also enumerated the year’s exciting events, beginning with the Papal Visit this month, Madrid Fusion-Manila in April, MTV Music Evolution in May, and the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Ministerial Meetings and Leaders’ Summit.
“These big events,” he added, “as well as the Philippine historic and cultural treasures like the Black Nazarene procession this January 8 and 9; our natural wonders like Siargao Islands, Boracay and Balicasag Bohol; and year-round sporting events like the Iron Man and Xtrra Triathlons and CWC International Wakeboarding Competition will surely delight every tourist to the country.”
In a statement, Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr. promoted VPY 2015 and praised the Filipino people’s hospitality and optimism, which he believes are the secrets to why “the Philippines is the best place to visit.”
“What will truly sustain Visit the Philippines Year 2015 campaign are the people themselves,” he concluded.
