It’s an early Christmas treat for “Beliebers” as TV5 airs a Justin Bieber special featuring the international popstar’s surprise trip to Tacloban City, Leyte. His personal visit, as part of his #GiveBackPhilippines global fundraising campaign, brought cheer to the victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda.
Exclusive video coverage, full-length interviews, and never-before-seen footages of the visit are packed in the one-hour special entitled Give Love. Give Back Philippines, to be shown tonight at 9:45 p.m. The full exclusive interview of Kapatid host Raymond Gutierrez with the Canadian singer will be seen here for the first time.
As the exclusive broadcaster of Justin’s #GiveBackPhilippines Philippine visit, TV5 followed the popstar the moment he landed at the airport, all the way to Tacloban and back to Manila to meet and greet some fans. The special captures the pop sensation in a different light, witnessing his genuine desire to help which endeared him to his millions of fans and made countless Filipinos instant “Beliebers.”
Justin’s visit was a dream come true for hundreds of young typhoon survivors, as their idol jammed with them, gave them gifts, sang Christmas carols, danced, and played basketball with them. It was a small, spontaneous concert, but to Justin, it was “the most important one” in his Believe world concert tour. He also tweeted that his Philippine stop is “the most important trip of my life.”
“Justin really cares about the people here. Filipinos are tremendously supportive of Justin, so when we knew what happened, it was really important to him to actually come here and show support in addition to raising funds,” says Penni Thow, head of Social Impact for Scooter Braun Projects.
The 19-year-old heartthrob’s #GiveBackPhilippines campaign has raised $1,127,705 in less than two weeks, exceeding his target of $1,000,000 donation to Yolanda survivors. His team also produced limited edition shirts with his signature in it, sales proceeds to be donated to TV5’sAlagang Kapatid Foundation.
Give Love. Give Back Philippines serves as an inspiring documentary that will showcase the resiliency of the Filipino spirit alongside Bieber’s initiative to help rebuild lives.
