Following the highly successful and historic “Happy sa 2015: Philippine New Year Countdown,” which marked TV5’s festive 2015 grand welcome, the “Kapatid Network” introduced 10 new programs offerings for the first quarter of the year at a grand launch on Tuesday at the Sampaguita Gardens in New Manila, Quezon City.

As event host and radio personality DJ Laila (a.k.a. Laila Chikadora) boldly declared, the network is out to compete with GMA Network for the No. 2 spot in the ratings game, adding that in time, they will go head to head with ABS-CBN 2.

Seemingly most promising among the roster of new programs is the family sitcom 2 + Daddies, which served as the launch’s grand finale presentation. Starring the famous Padilla siblings Robin, Rommel and BB Gandanghari (formerly known as Rustom, who was politically correct in pointing out that they should no longer be referred to as the “Padilla brothers” but rather siblings being a transgender) together for the first time, the show about joint fatherhood also stars Alice Dixson and the fabulous Celia Rodriguez. The weekly sitcom begins on January 24.

Meanwhile, the rest of the new programs are as follows:

One big treat to kids and the young at heart is the free-TV airing in the Philippines of the world-famous Australian children’s program, Hi-5 beginning January 30. There is so much more in store for Hi-5 fans in the country as the network prepares for Hi-5 Philippines, which will feature a roster of all-Filipino hosts.

Morning lifestyle show Happy Wife Happy Life, brings together the life partners of some of the country’s most popular basketball stars in Danica Sotto-Pingris, wife of hardcourt idol Marc Pingris; LJ Moreno-Alapag, wife of PBA Mighty Mouse Jimmy Alapag; RR Enriquez, partner of ace player JJ Helterbrand; and Jeck Maierhofer, wife of hardcourt favorite Rico Maierhofer weekdays beginning on January 19.

Solved na Solved is another morning show hosted by Gelli De Belen, Atty. Mel Sta. Maria, and Arnell Ignacio, which seeks to provide viewers with insightful advice on their legal rights. It also begins January 19, and airs weekdays at 11:30 a.m.

Making a big leap TV from Radyo5 program is Healing Galing sa TV, weekday mornings starting tomorrow. Naturaphatic medicine expert Dr. Edinell Calvario co-hosts with the erstwhile controversial and now “spiritually reformed” Dr. Hayden Kho.

Meanwhile, continuing the success of its first season is Wattpad Presents, the e-book to TV drama series, airing weeknights from January 19.

Late Saturday nights are ready to cater to the lovelorn through the love advice show Call Me Papa Jack, also from Radyo 5. It premieres on January 24.

Sunday sitcom night will feature Derek Ramsay and “hunk wannabe” Empoy in Mac & Chiz. Metro Manila Film Festival 2014 Best Actor Derek’s “Mac” is happy to try his hand in comedy, where he discovers he has a long lost twin in Empoy’s “Chiz.” The show begins on January 25.

Also airing Sundays, beginning January 25, is Move It: Clash of the Street Dancers, the first-ever streetdance competition on Philippine TV hosted by Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Tom Taus.

Completing TV5’s Q1 offerings is the country’s newest singing competition Rising Stars, to be hosted by Ogie Alcasid and Venus Raj. The contest premieres on TV5 on February 28 and airs every Saturday and Sunday night.
