Only 15 pieces allocated to PH market
To celebrate and embody the brand’s 10 years of bigtime watches, TW Steel released a special limited edition 10th anniversary watch, the Apex Canteen. It was launched along with the new 2015 Canteen collection, an homage to the beginnings of the Netherland-born luxury watch brand.
“The models that we started with were the Canteen models so we thought, let’s go back to where we started,” TW Steel Global Marketing Director Auke Possel said at a media preview at New World Hotel Makati.
The Swiss made Limited Edition Canteen timepieces house an ETA 7750 Valjoux Chronograph Automatic movement for added accuracy, encrusted with sapphire crystals. Only 200 pieces were made for the edition, with 15 pieces allocated to the Philippine market.
Of TW Steel’s 5,000 points of sale in over 100 countries, seven stand-alone boutiques and over 30 multi-brand stores carry the brand in the Philippines since launching at The Podium mall in 2008.
TW Steel has been endorsed by Formula One British driver David Coulthard, American singer, composer and TV Personality Kelly Rowland, Italian professional motorcycle racer and multiple MotoGP World Champion, Valentino Rossi and international DJ/Producer Mitchel Niemeyer from Netherlands.
Local collaborators have also represented and worked with the brand including Marvin Agustin, Coach Rio de la Cruz, Venus Raj, and Chieffy Caligdong for the Pilot Collection in 2013. Meanwhile, Argentine businessman and Solenn Heusaff’s fiancée Nico Bolzico along with athletes James Younghusband and Sebastian Ripoll led the local introduction of the Slim Line Collection in 2014.
What started out as a simple conversation on the trend of oversized watches between father-son duo Ton and Jordy Cobelens in The Netherlands in 2005 led to this meteoric rise of a game changer in the field of luxury timepieces. But according to Possel, the short 10 years are but a beginning to the brand.
“Are we proud? Yes, certainly. Are we satisfied? No, not yet. We have a feeling we’re just getting started,” Possel enthused. “There are a lot of statements we still have to make, a lot of regions we still have to conquer. We’re not done yet, not by long.”
