    WINE enthusiasts were treated to an affair of food and “vino” as the popular brand Concha Y Toro held a two-day event, starting with an intimate wine pairing dinner in Village Tavern.

    For the night, the Casillero del Diablo was intricately paired with authentic Mexican and Spanish dishes. Prepared by Bistro corporate chef Josh Boutwood, the Texas-style or “Tex-Mex” dishes were perfectly coupled, with nothing over-bearing, but rather, a simple complementing gustatory experience of favorites.

    The dinner started with Chicken Tinga Empanaditas, slow cooked chicken stuffed in warm Mexican pockets, served with Casillero del Diablo Sauvignon Blanc. Hints of pears, lime, green apples and some tropical touches make this an elegant wine from the coastal areas of the Central Valley, Chile.

    Mescal Smoked Chicken—a boneless leg quarter—is spiced and grilled, with green rice, poblanocrema and house salad was served for mains. This dish was paired with Casillero del Diablo Merlot, which features cherries accompanied by licorice with subtle touches of vanilla and toffee, heightening the flavorful Tex-Mex spices.

    Guests also had the option to choose the Spiced Rubbed US Prime Flank Steak, which was paired with Casillero del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon, making the beef an ideal partner that brought the richness of cherries and plums of this wine.

    For dessert, there was fried tacos, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate make for Sopaipillas, which was paired with Casillero del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon, showcasing the wine’s versatility.

    The second event in which Concha Y Toro participated was at the 14th Grand Wine Experience held in the Grand Ballroom of Marriott Hotel. The wine brand showcased its complete portfolio as part of the Grand Wine Experience.

    In its latest edition, one can have unlimited sips of over 500 wines and spirits from 23 countries housed in the venue. There was a sumptuous spread including different kinds of cheese, bread and cold meats, ribs, ravioli, sushi and sashimi, and ostentatious desserts.

    Welcoming guests in both events were VCT Group of Wineries South East Asia Regional Manager Mario Aguado and Fly Ace Corp. President Jun Cochanco. Personalities from the media and public relations were also present in the wine and dine experience.
