SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union: ANTI-narcotics operatives have arrested two suspected female drug dealers, one of them a barangay secretary, during a drug sting over the weekend in Barangay Ilocanos Norte in this city.
Police Supt. Julius Suriben, city police chief, identified the suspects as Angelica Dulay, 38, barangay secretary of Ilocanos Norte and Elena Cantor, 48 of Taboc, San Juan, La Union.
“Dulay was under surveillance for some time now because she was reported to be one of the top sources of illegal drugs in the city,” Suriben told The Manila Times.
Recovered from Dulay and Cantor were 22 sachets of shabu placed inside a pouch bag and the cell phones that they used in their illicit drug transactions.
The suspects however denied the allegations and disowned the illegal drugs allegedly recovered by the police from them.
Suriben said the involvement of some barangay officials in illegal drugs trade has contributed to the proliferation and continued sale of illegal drugs in the city.
