• Two Iloilo bridges to be repaired

ILOILO CITY: The City Engineering Office on Monday confirmed that two bridges in this city are structurally unsafe.

Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has ordered the immediate and separate inspection of Loboc and Rizal bridges after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said both bridges are in the advanced state of deterioration.

The DPWH district engineering office said the fund for the renovation of the bridges will come from the P4.1 billion DPWH-Department of Tourism convergence program on tourism roads and bridges to be completed before 2014 ends.

Mabilog asked the DPWH to proceed first with the construction of the Rizal Bridge but delay the construction of the Loboc Bridge for few months to allow only light vehicles to pass through Loboc before going to the city proper.
