• Two killed and 22 others injured as dump-truck fell-off to a cliff in Cebu


    TWO people were killed and twenty-two others were injured after a wayward dump truck fell-off a deep cliff in a remote village in Alcantara town in Cebu province on Thursday noon, police reports said on Friday.

    Reports reaching the Philippine National Police national operations center in Camp Crame said that the accident took place at about 12 noon on Thursday along a highway in Barangay Lawaan, Alcantara, Cebu.

    Reports said that the dump truck, owned by the municipality of Moalboal, was full of passengers when it fell of the cliff. Initial investigations revealed that the truck driver lost control of the vehicle that caused the accident.

    Police said that two passengers were killed on the spot while the 22 injured people were brought immediately to Badian District Hospital and Vicente Sotto Medical Center for treatment.

    The identities of the fatalities and the injured are not available as of press time.

    Meanwhile, police said that the driver surrendered himself to the Moalboal Municipal Police after the incident and was later turned over to the Alcantara Municipal Police station for proper disposition.  AFP
