TWO members of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) were killed during an encounter with government troopers in the hinterland village of Bukidnon province. Capt. Christian Uy, spokesman, Fourth Infantry Division, on Thursday said the firefight erupted at the vicinity of Matimbos River, Barangay Dao in San Fernando town. According to Uy, troops from the Eighth Infantry Battalion were traversing the Matimbos River when they spotted a group of six heavily armed NPA rebels. After a five-minute firefight, he added the rebels withdrew leaving behind their two dead comrades identified as Mabini Manubia alias Kumander Toto and Zaldie Ambayot, both of Guerilla Front 6, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee operating in the hinter areas of San Fernando.
