Tycoons in Manila for Forbes conference

The 15th annual Forbes Global CEO Conference, a three-day series of symposiums attended by global business leaders, kicked off at Entertainment City Manila on Monday.

Hosted by Forbes, an American business magazine, the event is being held for the very first time in the Philippines, a fitting venue amid the country’s rallying economic performance.

“We are delighted to bring Forbes Global CEO Conference to the Philippines, one of the world’s most promising emerging markets. Manila is a fitting location to host our conference delegates, who are among the world’s most economically powerful business people,” said William Adamopoulos, CEO of Asia Forbes Media LLC as he announced the conference’s venue last March.

Notable names in the global business arena will be speaking in a series of sessions that revolve around the theme “Toward a Winning Vision.” The sessions formally opened last night with a welcoming note from Forbes chairman and editor-in-chief Steve Forbes at the Solaire Theatre and Casino.

The 12-part conference focuses on the theme of visionary leadership, tackling how companies can best articulate a winning vision to drive their business forward.

On Wednesday (October 14), President Benigno Aquino 3rd will engage in a one-on-one dialogue with Forbes to discuss the Philippine economy and global economic issues at the closing of the conference.

Some 50 top people in the global business arena are taking part in panel discussions that cover a diverse range of topics, such as the outlook for the global financial markets, prospects in emerging markets and investment opportunities in sectors such as finance, technology, retail and real estate.

Panels will also discuss the best strategies for building a winning brand, leadership and philanthropy.
