The Younghusband Football Academy (TYFA) won back-to-back games in the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Women’s League after escaping Hiraya FC, 4-2, at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on Saturday.
Joma Clemente fueled the second half surge of the TYFA ladies with two consecutive goals.
In their previous game last December 4, TYFA posted a 2-0 victory against the winless Fuego Espana FC.
TYFA scored a goal just seven minutes after the start of the match courtesy of April Reyes.
However, Hiraya came back in the 13th minute as Aiza Mondero blasted past her defenders to level the score, 1-1.
The women in Blue-and-White snatched the lead anew in the 37th minute with the shot of Karen Ladero.
Clemente, who came in as a substitute, scored twin goals in the 52nd and 61st minutes to widen her club’s lead, 4-1, with just a few minutes left in regulation.
Hiraya FC’s Vanessa Fabon hit her mark in the 80th minute to cut the deficit down to two goals before the final whistle.
TYFA improved its record to two wins and a loss for a total of six points while Hiraya has three losses and one victory.
Meanwhile, collegiate champions University of the Philippines slipped past the tough Ateneo de Manila University, 1-0, in the second game of the day.
Cristina De Los Reyes scored the only goal of the game with a conversion in the 82nd minute.
The Lady Maroons are now No. 2 as the Lady Eagles absorbed their second defeat in three games.
