UAAP: Far Eastern repulses La Salle in OT, keeps solo lead

League-leading Far Eastern University survived De La Salle University’s impeccable three-point shooting en route to 83-79 overtime victory in UAAP men’s basketball on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

After struggling in the first three periods, Terrence Romeo and veteran shooting guard Ryan Roose Garcia regained their shooting touch when it mattered most to keep the Tamaraws unbeaten in four games.

Romeo finished with 25 points along with five assists and four rebounds, while Garcia scattered 12 of his 19 points in the fourth and overtime period, and Mark Belo added 10 points and 13 rebounds for FEU.

La Salle’s Luigi dela Paz gave the Green Archers their biggest advantage at 73-60 after hitting a triple with only 2:30 remaining in regulation.

But FEU came back with a strong 15-2 windup to erase to tie the count at 75-all at the buzzer to force overtime.

La Salle University dropped to a 2-2 slate.
