Far Eastern University (FEU) outlasted University of Santo Tomas (UST), 2-1, to clinch the first twice-to-beat berth on Thursday in the semifinals of UAAP men’s football at the FEU-Diliman pitch on Friday.
Jess Melliza hit his sixth goal of the season in the 27th minute for the equalizer, while Arnel Amita scored a header in the 57th that gave the Tamaraws the lead.
FEU stayed on top spot with 24 points on an 8-0-1 win-draw-loss record, while keeping the Growling Tigers in fifth spot with 11 points.
UST, which has a 3-2-5 slate, remained a point behind idle University of the East in the race for the last semis berth.
