De La Salle University avenged its first-round loss to Far Eastern University (FEU) with a 75-66 victory on Sunday in UAAP men’s basketball at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Rookie Jason Perkins piled up 18 points and 13 rebounds while shooting guard Almond Vosotros added 13 points and five rebounds for the Green Archers, who improved to 5-4 win-loss card.
Jeron Teng contributed 16 points and nine rebounds for La Salle.
FEU has a 7-2 slate after sweeping the first round.
La Salle lost to FEU, 83-79, during the first meeting.
In the first game, National University routed Adamson University, 80-48, to extend its winning run to three behind the impressive plays of Cameroonian center Emmanuel Mbe and forward Bobby Ray Parks.
Mbe scattered 21 points along with 10 rebounds and four steals, while Parks scored 16 points in addition to his six rebounds and five assists and Robin Rono had eight points to put the Bulldogs in second place in the standings with a 6-3 record.
“Our defense was so impressive that’s why we have more fast breaks,” said NU mentor Eric Altamirano, referring to NU’s 23-9 fast break points.
The Bulldogs took a commanding 21-7 lead in the first period and were never threatened the rest of the way.
Adamson was limited to only eight points in the fourth period to suffer a third straight setback for a 3-6 win-loss slate.
Roider Cabrera and Jericho Cruz led the Falcons with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
