The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Board imposed another one-game suspension on Ateneo de Manila University head coach Bo Perasol for being in the Araneta Coliseum during the Ateneo-University of the East game last Sunday.
The board invoked a league rule that bans a suspended coach, manager, assistant manager, statistician, scorers, masseurs, or any other member of a team from being in the venue where his team is playing.
Perasol, who was then serving a one-game suspension, was in attendance when the Blue Eagles scored a 77-72 victory over the Red Warriors.
The board, however, ruled that the game will not be forfeited.
All other suspended players who were present in the venue during their respective games will get a warning.
Another violation of the same nature means game forfeiture, the board said.
Perasol’s suspension will take effect on September 18 when Ateneo battles University of Santo Tomas. Ateneo and UST are contesting the last Final Four slot.
Ateneo is in fifth place with a 7-6 card while UST is in solo fourth with 7-5.
National University (10-4), Far Eastern University (10-4) and De La Salle University (9-4) are already in the Final Four.
On Saturday La Salle takes on UST at 4 p.m. and UE meets Adamson University at 2 p.m. at the MOA Arena.
