Adamson University overpowered National University (NU), 8-1, in Game 2 to claim its fourth title in a row in UAAP women’s softball Friday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Lady Falcons swept the Lady Bulldogs, 2-0, in their championship showdown, winning Game 1, 11-3.
Adamson was undefeated in the last four seasons and holds the record for the longest winning streak of 48.
The last time Adamson lost was in February 13, 2010 when it bowed to University of Santo Tomas, 8-3.
“We’re not thinking of the streak or history in the UAAP. We just wanted to play and win this. Going into the finals, we have this ‘one game at a time’ mentality. What’s important for us is to win the game regardless of the score,” said Adamson head coach Ana Santiago.
World Series Big League veteran Annalie Benjamen was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Best Slugger.
Overall, the Lady Falcons own 13 titles including their 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 crowns.
