Defending champion National University (NU) coasted to an easy 25-19, 25-19, 25-18 win over Adamson University to barge into the finals of UAAP men’s volleyball on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan City.
Team captain Reuben Inaudito fired 14 points, including four blocks and two aces, for the Bulldogs. Edwin Tolentino and Jan Berlin Paglinawan backed Inaudito up with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Reigning scoring champion Peter Den Mar Torres added eight points.
“We’re just too happy that we made it again to the finals. We had a lot of struggles in the elimination round. We can now focus on the finals. We need to play solid against Ateneo especially on blocking and reception,” said Torres, last year’s finals Most Valuable Player.
Michael Saduria and John Edison Mallapre, Adamson’s leading scorers, were limited to eight points each.
NU will face Ateneo de Manila University in the best-of-three championship series beginning on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Blue Eagles secured the first finals slot by subduing Far Eastern University, 23-25, 19-25, 25-17, 28-26, 15-13.
