UNIVERSITY of the East swept Far Eastern University-Diliman, 25-23, 25-19, 25-23, to secure the remaining semifinals berth in the girls division yesterday in the UAAP Season 79 high school volleyball tournament at the Adamson University gym.

The Junior Warriors played with a lot of intensity to end the Baby Tamaraws’ hopes of winning another do-or-die playoff game.

Up next for UE is a duel with third-ranked De La Salle-Zobel in the first step-ladder match at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the same San Marcelino venue.

The Junior Lady Spikers placed third in the eliminations with a 8-4 record.

By sweeping the 12-game elimination round, three-peat seeking National University jumped straight to the best-of-three Finals.

University of Santo Tomas has secure a twice-to-beat advantage in the step-ladder semifinals after finishing second with a 10-2 card and will face the winner of the UE-La Salle contest.

FEU-Diliman settled for fifth place.
