The University of the East (UE) Lady Warriors eye to avenge their first-round loss against the De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Archers in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) women’s basketball tournament on Saturday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
“We have to prepare for La Salle. I know that they are also preparing. We really have to prepare and we’ll make sure that we will give a harder fight,” said UE head coach Aileen Leborno.
With both teams holding an 8-3 win-loss card, UE and La Salle will clash for the second seed.
The UE Lady Warriors enjoyed a three-game winning streak defeating the Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws, University of the Philippines (UP) Lady Maroons, and the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Lady Eagles.

Nicole Mendina top scored UE with 15 markers, while Eunique Chan and Love Sto. Domingo combined for 18 points and 32 rebounds. Hazelle Yam owned the lone bright spot for Ateneo with 11 markers.
“The mentality of the players and the defense. We would tighten our defense because ever since, we haven’t won against La Salle. We have to develop more their trust on themselves that they can really win because it is always our problem,” Leborno said on the adjustments for the UE squad.
