• UE replaces Red Warriors head coach

The University of the East (UE) management has decided to remove Boycie Zamar as head coach of its men’s basketball team in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. According to UE Executive Vice President Carmelita Mateo: “Mr David “Boycie” Zamar will no longer be the Head Coach of the UE Red Warriors Men’s basketball tournament effective April 1, 2014. “The Management feels that the Warriors’ head coach must be one who will handle the team full-time, one without commitments to other teams. This development allows Mr. Zamar and his coaching staff freedom to attend to their respective commitments outside of the UE Red Warriors,” added Mateo in a statement. UE is expected to name its new mentor next week. Zamar was appointed as UE tactician in the middle of the Season 75, replacing Jerry Codinera.  Under Zamar, the Red Warriors finished fifth in Season 76 with a 7-7 mark.
