    A track-and-field varsity from the University of the East and a female triathlete dominated their respective categories to rule the first leg of this year’s Run United series, held on Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia grounds in Pasay City. Richard Salaño, a 22-year old student-athlete from UE, and triathlon veteran Monica Torres stepped up their games to finish on top of the 21-kilometer division of Run United 1, presented by Unilab Active Health (ULAH) and organized by RunRio Inc. Salaño showed off his fiery form to clock in at 01:16:52 in the men’s category and finish ahead of fellow top placers Benjamin Raña Jr. and Andy Pope. Torres, on the other the hand, crossed the finish line with a time of 01:28:20, followed by IrineKipchumba and Kristy Abello, to rule the women’s category.
