• UK calls for greater transparency in hospitals

The Department of Health with support from the British Embassy Manila recently launched Hospital Advisor—an online tool to review, choose, and interact with the different hospitals and healthcare facilities in the country.

Backed by the British Embassy Manila’s Bilateral Programme Fund, Hospital Advisor was conceptualized by the Office for Health Regulations of DOH to bridge the gap between the health department, the hospitals, the healthcare professionals, and the patients to provide a seamless experience in the prevention, treatment and curing of illnesses.

The online tool, available on desktop and mobile, is a crowd-sourced platform that offers advice on the services, healthcare personnel, rates, and general information on all hospitals including both government and private facilities.

The app directs a patient to the correct facilities that will cater to their healthcare needs and more importantly allows them to channel their reviews, complaints, and recommendations to not only the DOH but to anyone who has access to the website.

Hospital Advisor is supported by the British Embassy Manila and various stakeholders including other government agencies such as the Department of Tourism, Private and Pub- lic Hospitals, Media, and Healthcare Organizations.
