THE United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) on Wednesday disowned what it described as a “bogus” website containing the alleged statement of losing senatorial candidate Jose Miguel Zubiri on Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
UNA denied having or maintaining the website (www.unasasenado.com).
“It has come to our attention that a bogus website of UNA has been circulating on social media bearing a spurious article on former Sen. Migz Zubiri’s stand on AIDS,” UNA said in a statement.
It said Zubiri has already denied having made any statement on making AIDS illegal, and has sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into the matter.
“We do not want anyone to be deceived by this website providing false and inaccurate information to mock, hurt, malign and embarrass people for the amusement of others,” it added.
According to UNA, “during the last elections, our candidates stayed true to our principles and stood on issues and platforms that matter for the common man. We raised the level of campaign to new standards and veered away from soiled politics.”
“To those who put up the site: Nice try—but this is not our cup of tea,” it added.
