IT will be a battle between two unbeaten teams when five-peat champion San Beda College Red Lions face the Letran Knights in the second game at 4 p.m. of the 91st National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City today. The Lyceum of the Philippines Pirates will collide with the College of Saint Benilde Blazers in the first game at 2 p.m.
The winner between the Red Lions and the Knights, both carrying 2-0 records, would gain a share of the top spot now occupied by the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Altas that are carrying an unbeaten 3-0 card. The loser will join the Arellano Chiefs with a 2-1 record at the third position.
Rookie coach Jamike Jarin is confident that his wards would overcome the Knights. The Red Lions opened their quest for their sixth straight title with a win over host Mapua Cardinals, 102-89, on June 27. San Beda posted another convincing victory, 108-80, over the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals on July 2.
The Knights under coach Aldin Ayo appear to have shown tremendous improvement this season. They crushed the Saint Benilde Blazers, 82-53, before routing favored Jose Rizal Heavy Bombers, 78-62, on July 3.
In the high school division, the Lyceum Junior Pirates fight the CSB-LSGH Greenies at 10 a.m. followed by the game between six-peat titlist San Beda Red Cubs against Letran Squires at 12 noon.
