EASTERN Police District (EPD) Director Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula on Tuesday warned barangay (village) chairmen that they will be included in the drug list if they will not support the government’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.
Sapitula told The Manila Times that he had directed all the chiefs of police in the cities of Pasig, Marikina, San Juan, and Mandaluyong to include barangay officials who do not cooperate with the police in their anti-drug operations.
“I have the directive to them [chief commanders and chiefs of police]to include inactive barangay captains and those who are not helping in the tokhang operations and anti-drug campaign in their drug watch list,” Sapitula said.
“I will write a letter to the city mayors urging them to require all their barangay chairmen to help the PCP [Police Community Precinct] commanders, the police, in our tokhang operations to gain more [drug]surrenderers,” he added.
Sapitula said the EPD is targeting around 31,000 drug personalities in their Tokhang operations.
