ILOILO CITY: The incidence of undernutition in Western Visayas is consistently declining, according to the National Nutrition Council (NNC). Undernutrition, according to the NNC, is nutrient deficiency of the body from not eating enough food and this usually affects the balance of all the nutrients in the body. NNC Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Nona Tad-y said the prevalence of undernutrition based on the 2015 nutrition situation report, among pre-school children is now at 5.58 percent.

“This is 0.7 percent lower than the 6.21 percent in 2014,” Tad-y told the members of the Regional Nutrition Technical Committee during its first quarter meeting. “We can attribute this to the efficient delivery of services enjoyed by families in barangays,” Tad-y said, adding that health services have also improved.
