Malacañang and Noynoy Aquino’s cronies are desperately scrambling to muddle up the news scene and issues surrounding the Mamasapano Massacre, which the Senate committee headed by Sen. Grace Poe is poised to reopen Wednesday next week.
For one, they are running full blast their press releases mill to discredit Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, who had requested the continuation of the inquiry into culpability of the President, the Cabinet and the military officials he was with.
Senator Serge Osmeña, Noynoy’s ally, has dismissed Enrile’s move as mere politics meant to hurt the chances of administration standard-bearer Mar Roxas in the May 2016 elections.
Incidentally, the Sandiganbayan has pressed on with the plunder case against Gigi Reyes, former aide and believed to be Enrile’s powerful mistress.
Expect again Malacañang’s propaganda mill to ensure full coverage of the trial, to divert public attention.
But this should instead accentuate the fact that justice has not been served in the case of the slaughter of 44 Special Action Force (SAF 44) police commandos in Mamasapano on January 25 last year.
Attaining justice that is being denied through whitewash and cover-up remains the main issue in this case and not Enrile or whoever wants it reopened.
In the first place, it was the Palace itself that suggested coming up with a version of an “alternative truth” that would have completely assigned the blame on the SAF 44 for their own horrific death in the hands of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
That merely added insult to the aggravation of the widowed SAF 44 families.
It is time that whole unaltered truth is told.
It is time that Noynoy himself face the Senate hearing, in the same way that they had asked Vice President Jojo Binay to answer questions without the aid of a script.
It is also time that Mar Roxas, the secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) at the time, must answer for his culpability for gross negligence, incompetence and inefficiency in the performance of duties, as well as dishonesty and disloyalty.
This darkest day in the history of the Philippine National Police occured under Roxas watch as DILG chief and National Police Commission chairman.
Tama na ang pagsisinungaling, pagtatakip at paninisi sa iba!
Who can forget the wholesale deception that we were subjected to amid national mourning for 44 promising police officers, who were sent on a suicide mission just to fulfill the President’s self-aggrandizement.
He ordered and authorized suspended police director-general Alan Purisima to launch Oplan Exodus, which was based on a repeatedly failed plan to kill bomb maker Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan.
Note that they implemented the ill-designed mission just five days after visit of His Holiness Pope Francis, which inevitably highlighted the government’s failure to rehabilitate the life of Typhoon Yolanda survivors in Leyte.
The euphoria that lingered days after the Pope said goodbye was shattered by the horrors of the Mamasapano killing fields.
Months after the Senate, House, PNP, Department of Justice and Ombudsman investigations, not a single individual has been charged or arrested.
I say bring about the complete unadulterated truth!
Unmask the culprits!
