UNITED NATIONS, United States: Ahead of the start of a forum by the European Commission, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon met Tuesday with several European officials in Brussels, discussing such issues as the need for stronger international cooperation in the face of emerging challenges related to terrorism, and also visited with refugees and volunteers working at a soup kitchen.

In a news conference following a meeting with Jean-Claude Juncker, the President of the European Commission, and a number of European Union (EU) commissioners, Ban recalled that on March 22, the world grieved with Brussels as the vibrant and diverse city experienced horrific violence.
