Following a stellar performance in the second division during the 2015 United Football League (UFL), Laos FC is set to ascend to the top level of the country’s premier football tournament next season.
Laos FC bested the six teams in the lower division with 11 wins and a draw in 12 games.
“We worked hard for that. In the pre-season, we practiced hard. Everyone worked hard for it. Actually, that was our plan, to come out of the second division with an impressive performance,” said Laos FC team captain Badreldin Elhabib.
“It feels great. I think it is where we belong because of the quality of Laos. We are back where we belong,” he added
Elhabib said that he was not surprised by the development since most of the players of their club are the same players that carried Global FC to the first division a few years back.
“Most of my teammates now in Laos are also my teammates before in Global. Those guys are the ones who brought Global before to the first division,” he stated.
Based in Leyte, the newly crowned champion of Division Two of the UFL is the sister club of this year’s runner-up team Global FC.
“We’ll go into the first division to compete and hopefully, if God will allow it and with hard work, we’ll be with the top teams of the first division. We want to win the championship,” Elhabib said.
