The two weather disturbances inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) will continue to bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers in most parts of the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday.
In its 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said that as of 10 a.m. the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 50 km southeast of Dagupan City (15.7°N, 120.5°E) while the other LPA was estimated at 580 km east of Virac, Catanduanes (14.0°N, 130.0°E).
According to PAGASA these weather systems will bring light to moderate rains and thunderstorms in Luzon, Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula.
“Residents in these areas and local disaster risk reduction management councils concerned are advised to be alert and take all the necessary precautionary measures and monitor updates on this weather disturbance,”it added.
In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the LPA located in Dagupan has a slim chance to intensify into a tropical depression as it is expected to hit landmass and dissipate.
He added the other weather disturbance located in Catanduanes has high chance to intensify into tropical depression since its in the sea.
Once this LPA intensifies into a tropical depression inside the country, it will be locally named “Karding”, he noted. PNA
