• US airdrops supplies to Syrian Kurds as Kobane battle rages

MURSITPINAR, Turkey: The US airdropped weapons, ammunition and medical supplies for the first time to Syrian Kurds in Kobane, US Central Command said on Sunday (Monday in Manila), as the fierce battle for the key city continued to rage between the Kurds and Islamic State fighters. In a move likely to anger key ally Turkey, a C-130 cargo aircraft conducted “multiple” airdrops of supplies provided by the Kurdish authorities in Iraq.
