The US Embassy invites everyone the Manila visit of Texas’ very own renowned chef Grant Gordon. Under the Culinary Diplomacy program of the Embassy, Chef Gordon’s Manila visit will showcase the fusion of American and Filipino cuisines through recipes featuring US ingredients and food products.
At a very young age of 24, Gordon became the famous executive chef of the iconic Tony’s restaurant in Houston Texas, which earned him a spot on Forbes’ 30 under 30 listing.
He graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New York and is a James Beard Award nominee for the “Rising Star Chef of the Year.”
Gordon’s menu combines the classic and the modern flavors that brought fame to Tony’s. More information can be found at tonyshouston.com.
Catch Chef Gordon at the following events: a Wet market tour on February 27, at 6 a.m. at the Farmers’ Market, Cubao, Quezon City; and a cooking demo at the America in 3D on March 1 and 2 at the Main Mall Atrium, SM Mall of Asia. An exclusive four-course lunch with the media also happens on February 28, 11:30 a.m. at the Diamond Hotel.
Chef Gordon’s visit is part of the America in 3D, a flagship multi-media, entertainment, and education event by the US Embassy. It is a unique “road show” showcasing the US Embassy and its programs, services, and people throughout the Philippines.
The three “D’s” of Development, Diplomacy, and Defense are highlighted through colorful interaction points, displays, and special informational sessions where members of the public have the unique opportunity to speak directly with Embassy representatives from the Consular Section, the US Department of Veterans Affairs, the US Peace Corps, the United States Agency for International Development, and the Philippine-American Educational Foundation.
American-inspired musical and dance performances are a special part of the American 3D program, including appearances by Jed Madela, Charice Pempengco, Razorback, the US Navy’s 7th Fleet Band, Luke Mejares, and talented gospel singers and hip-hop groups.
Visitors can also take part in contests to win exciting prizes, attend the screening of an award-winning film, take part in baseball and basketball clinics, check out vintage American cars, gather information about applying for a visa, studying in America, and learn about the whole range of programs and services offered by the embassy in the Philippines.
