The Mission’s LGBTI Pride Month reception was attended by more than 140 allies and advocates of the LGBTI community.

Ambassador Goldberg then offered a moment of silence for the victims of the tragic
shooting in a nightclub in  Orlando, as well as the killing of an LGBTI rights activist in Bangladesh.

The Embassy has conducted an LGBTI Workshop, in partnership with GALANG Philippines, for 20 self-identified LGBTI youth from Northern Luzon, Central Luzon and the Cordillera Administrative Region on June 27 to 29 in Baguio City. The workshop trained the youth leaders to improve their capabilities to understand and articulate their rights toward becoming LGBTI rights’ advocates and practitioners.

The US Embassy also hosted a film screening of the award-winning documentary Matt Shepard is a Friend of Mine on June 30 at Pineapple Lab, Makati.

Political Officer Merideth Manella also gave remarks on efforts in the US to ensure equal rights for all.
