US embassy closed for ‘Eid’l Fitr’ on August 9


THE United States Embassy in Manila and its affiliated offices will be closed to the public on August 9 in observance of the Eid’l Fitr.

The statement from the embassy said that it will resume operations on providing regular embassy and consular serv-ices on August 12.

The embassy also said that it will be closed August 21 for the Ninoy Aquino Day and on August 26 for the National Heroes Day.

President Benigno Aquino 3rd earlier announced August 9 as a regular holiday through Proclamation 269.

Eid’l Fitr is an important religious holiday for Muslims. It marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan where Muslims offered prayers and made sacrifices.
