US Embassy Manila is inviting educational institutions to look into the English Access Microscholarship Program (Access), and the benefits it offers to selected students, schools, and communities.
Through after-school classes and intensive sessions, Access provides a foundation of English language skills to 13- to 20-year-olds from economically disadvantaged sectors. Access participants get to learn English skills that may lead to better jobs and educational prospects. Participants are also given the opportunity to compete for and participate in future exchanges and study in the United States.
Since its inception in 2004, approximately 95,000 students in more than 85 countries have participated in the Access Program. Students are recruited in specific locations where Access classes are taking place.
Information on how a community or school can host an Access program is available via www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxILf5nqqnI and www.exchanges.state.gov/non-us/program/english-access-microscholarship-program.
